Why am I running for city council?

- Anna and I have lived in Waukee for 15 years.

- We love living here.

- The quality of life and hometown feel is unique.

- This is a way to give back to the community.

- I am excited about where Waukee is headed.

- I want to help make good long term decisions for Waukee.

Why should you vote for me?

- Aim to keep services and amenities expanding and high quality.

- Reduce spending and keep taxes as low as possible.

- I will focus on smart growth.

- I will focus on responsible and transparent spending.

- I am curious and will stay curious.

- I will ask questions.

- Show up, work hard, listen, and be your voice.

What is an opportunity I see for Waukee?
- Job creation.
- Business attraction.
- Increase commercial property valuation.
- Bring in more restaurants and activities.
- Live, work, and play.

Why else should you vote for me? 

- I am relatable. 

- Experience working many different jobs.

- Exposure to various industries. 

- Broad worldview interacting with diverse colleagues and traveling internationally.

- I have empathy and am adaptable.

What is my focus?

- I will balance investments in new Waukee and existing Waukee.

- I will keep the tax levy as low as possible.

What does the city council do?

- Policy making.

- Oversight and governance.

- Ensuring a safe, secure, and prospering community.

- Long term thinking

- Strategic planning

- Approving the budget.

- Making sure the city has resources to deliver services. 

- The city has great people, let the city do their job. 

- Help remove roadblocks and obstacles.

- Ask questions, provide guidance. 

- Be active in the community and listen. 

- Educate the community.

- Represent waukee in the region - work well with our neighbors.

What questions do I get the most?

- Property taxes and schools are the most common topics. 

- Waukee’s website is very helpful for understanding taxes.

- A desirable public school system is great for Waukee.

- Some residents move to Waukee for the school system. 

- Law requires a public school district to have a school board.

- The Waukee Community School District School Board is dedicated to inspiring learners who feel valued, challenged, and prepared to embrace tomorrow’s opportunities.

- Law requires a city to have a mayor and city council.

- The City of Waukee’s mission is to provide excellent municipal services in a resident-focused and fiscally responsible manner and engage residents in creating a vibrant community.

- While there is coordination and collaboration needed, the school board and city serve distinct purposes.

How will I engage with the community? 

- The feedback from our residents is important. 

- I am available and approachable.

- You can message me via email and social media.

- My goal is to be active at events. 

- Maybe a community advisory group would be beneficial. 

- I will listen and learn.

- I will be responsive and follow through.
